Comet Machholz (C/2004 Q2), 8 January 2005, 03:11 UT. Five minute exposure
with Canon 300D, 55mm, f/7.1, ISO 800. This image was taken with the camera
riding piggyback on a guided LX200. The comet is passing M45, the Pleiades,
and its ion trail appears in front of that cluster. A separate dust trail
is faintly visible extending down and right of the coma. North is up. |
