Mars
Mars is the most Earthlike of the planets. It is about half the diameter of the Earth and a tenth of its mass. Its orbital period of 1.9 years means that it and the Earth are close enough together for a few months every two years to make imaging practical.
All the images on this page were made with a Quickcam 4000 webcam on a 300mm LX200 operating at f/15. This method involves collecting hundreds or thousands of individual frames and then picking the very best to stack and process.
